Will it look orange?
Not from this one. Rose Gold Sunless mixes a dark neutral bronze with no red or orange base, which is what makes fair skin go orange in the first place. The other cause is bare hands: product sits in the creases of your palms for two hours and stains them. Use a mitt and the problem disappears.
How long do I leave it on?
The clock decides your shade, not the bottle.
- Burn and never tan: 40 minutes, then repeat the next evening. Two short sessions look natural on fair skin; one long one does not.
- Burn, then tan a little: 1 hour 30 minutes the first time, up to 2 hours once you know your skin.
- Tan easily, rarely burn: the full 2 hours, 3 if you want it deeper.
- Never burn: 3 hours, and use the mousse on the body rather than the mist.
How far ahead of a wedding should I tan?
Two days before, exfoliate with a glove: knees, elbows, ankles, heels, and no lotion afterwards. The evening before, apply mousse on the body with a mitt and mist on the face, then rinse after two hours. The morning of, the colour is developed and set. Order at least a week ahead: parcels are handed to the carrier within 3 business days and US transit is another 3 to 7.
Will it transfer to my sheets or a white dress?
It dries in about 60 seconds, so nothing transfers to clothes on the way to bed. Rinse after two hours with warm water and no soap, pat dry, and by morning the colour is set. That is why we tell people to tan the evening before an event and never the morning of.
How long does it last?
About seven days, fading evenly rather than flaking, as long as you moisturise daily. Flaking is dry skin coming away and taking colour with it, not the tan failing. Long hot baths and body scrubs cut the same week down to three days.
Can I use it on my face?
Use the clear facial mist, not a body dose of mousse. A full-body dose on the face settles into the hairline and clings to dry patches around the nose, which is what reads as fake. Four to six spritzes at arm's length with your eyes closed, then blend the jaw and hairline with a brush.
What if my first application goes patchy?
Tell us within 14 days and send a photo. We refund it, and you do not ship anything back. Most patches are a tool problem, not a formula problem, so we would rather fix the method with you than have you give up on self tan.
Do I have to shave first?
Shave a day ahead, not the same evening. Freshly opened pores hold colour as dots, which is the quietest reason a tan comes out speckled. Order is: shave, then exfoliate, then tan.
Where does my order ship from?
From the US warehouse of the brand that made the product. Nixe Beauty does not hold, repack or re-label stock. An order containing items from more than one brand arrives in more than one parcel, each with its own tracking, at no extra cost. Orders are usually handed to the carrier within 3 business days, and US delivery takes a further 3 to 7 business days.
What is your returns policy?
Unopened items can be returned within 30 days of delivery for a refund of the item price. Opened cosmetics cannot be returned for hygiene reasons unless there is a fault. If something arrives damaged, leaking, incorrect or missing, send a photo within 14 days and we replace or refund it.
Is the formula vegan and cruelty-free?
The Rose Gold Sunless self-tan range is vegan and cruelty-free, made in small fresh batches, built around DHA with hyaluronic acid, Kakadu plum, watermelon extract and white tea. The complete INCI list is printed on each pack by the manufacturer; write to us and we will send it before you order.
Is self tan safe in pregnancy?
We do not decide that for you. DHA colours the surface layer of skin rather than being absorbed, but if you are pregnant or nursing, show the ingredient list to your doctor first. Separately, the retinol in some of our skincare is generally avoided during pregnancy.
Do you ship outside the United States?
Not at the moment. Every brand we carry ships from its own warehouse inside the US, and we sell to US addresses only.
